Alcoa Fastening Systems, a global manufacturer and producer of lockbolts and structural blind fasteners, introduces the premium Huck BOM (blind oversized mechanically locked) fastener.
The BOM is the highest strength blind oversize fastener in the world, the company says, providing typical tensile strength up to 29,100 pounds and shear strength up to 45,100 pounds. The BOM’s unique push-and-pull design allows for easy installation in all blind side applications, without the need for torqueing tools, AFS says. Additionally, the company says, the large bearing area on both sides of the work piece ensures a permanently held, tamper-resistant joint.
BOM blind fasteners are often used as replacements for welding, because of their extremely high joint tightness, vibration resistance, and tamper resistance, AFS says, thus eliminating the need to hire certified welders or specially trained employees to install them.
The BOM is available in steel and ranges in size from 3/16” to 3/4” diameter.
