Detyens Shipyards Inc., North Charleston, S.C., has been awarded a $15.4 million firm-fixed-price contract to carry out a scheduled shipyard availability for the Military Sealift Command fleet replenishment oiler USNS Leroy Grumman (T-AO 195).

The 76-calendar-day midterm availability is set to begin Feb. 1, 2026, with completion expected by April 17, 2026. Work will be performed at Detyens’ facility in North Charleston.

The contract includes a base work package along with two unexercised options for additional work and time. If those options are exercised, the total contract value would increase to approximately $15.5 million.

Funding in the amount of $15,376,216 from fiscal year 2026 Navy operations and maintenance accounts has been obligated and will expire at the end of the fiscal year.

The award was issued as a small business set-aside. Proposals were solicited through the government-wide point of entry website, with three offers received. Military Sealift Command, Norfolk, Va., is the contracting activity.

The 677'6"x97' USNS Leroy Grumman is Henry J. Kaiser-class replenishment oiler built by Avondale Shipyard Inc., New Orleans. The ship, which has been in non-commissioned U.S. Navy service under the control of the Military Sealift Command since August 1989, provides underway replenishment of fuel to Navy combat ships and jet fuel for aircraft aboard aircraft carriers at sea.
