The U.S. Coast Guard has posted an informational brochure that provides an overview of federal documentation and tonnage measurement requirements for owners of U.S.commercial vessels less than 79 feet long.
Anyone owning such a vessel, certain restrictions on its commercial use may apply depending on a number of factors, including the nature of its commercial activities, the vessel’s net tonnage, and whether the vessel was U.S. built.
