Verret Marine Consulting LLC has acquired SailPlan Technology, a maritime monitoring platform developed for cruise, naval, and commercial vessel applications.

Under the acquisition, Verret Marine will continue development and deployment of the platform with a focus on predictive maintenance and machinery monitoring for the offshore, LNG, and commercial marine sectors. Existing SailPlan deployments will continue operating during the ownership transition.

SailPlan was designed to collect and analyze high-frequency machinery and operational data from vessels, providing operators with information intended to support maintenance planning and equipment reliability.

Verret Marine is led by Chad Verret, a veteran maritime executive with experience in offshore services and LNG marine transportation. Verret spent 14 years at Harvey Gulf International Marine, where he served as executive vice president, and later served as president of Q-LNG Transport.

"When we built SailPlan, we built it for operators who actually run vessels," SailPlan founder Patrick Lahey said in a statement announcing the transaction. "Chad is one of them. He understands what data is worth collecting, what a chief engineer will and won't act on, and where unplanned downtime really costs money."

According to the companies, Verret Marine plans to expand the use of SailPlan's data collection capabilities for predictive maintenance applications, helping vessel operators monitor machinery performance and identify potential equipment issues before failures occur.

Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
