SkipperLiner, a La Crosse, Wisc.-based boatbuilder, ceased operations last week, the La Crosse Tribune reported. The company had closed once in April 2010 and reopened under new ownership six months later.

When the current owners bought the company in 2010, they agreed to assume payments on $355,000 of a $656,000 state trust fund loan that the town of Campbell had co-signed for SkipperLiner Industries in 2004 and $754,610 it still owed to the La Crosse County Economic Development Fund, according to the La Crosse Tribune.

One of SkipperLiner’s most recent projects was building the Cal Fremling, a $1.4 million floating classroom for Winona State University.
