At the end of 2002, President Biden signed the $1.7 trillion full-year FY2023 government-wide funding legislation, which includes $20 million in funding for the Maritime Administration's (Marad) Small Shipyard Grant Program. The action starts the clock for the agency to issue its Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) for the Small Shipyard Grant Program within 15 days of enactment (estimated Jan. 13).In addition, grant applications are likely to be due Feb. 27, 2023, or thereabouts. As a reminder, should Marad's issuance of a notice be late, you will not get extra time to prepare your application. If you haven't already started working on your next application, it is not too late to begin! The Small Shipyards Grant Coalition can provide valuable tools for shipyard members to apply for these grants. The coalition may be able to help or refer you to one of the grantwriters experienced in this program.
