Welders: Combo-Fitters (Day & Night Shift)

This position is primarily responsible for using electrical currents to fuse metals like steel together to repair parts or build new components.

·         Grind barge & boat repair areas, internal compartments & cargo tanks, and external surface areas in preparation for welding

·         Weld barge & boat repair areas, internal compartments & cargo tanks, external surface areas, and specialty components & areas with the required number of passes to achieve full penetration welds.

·         Operate welding & grinding equipment, blowers, hoses, etc., to accomplish weld & repair duties.

MUST PASS A WELD TEST

 

Painters/Sandblasters(Day & Night Shift)

·         Sandblast barge & boat repair areas, internal compartments & cargo tanks, external surface areas,

and clean/remove blasting material residue from those surfaces in preparation of painting.

·         Paint barge & boat repair areas, internal compartments & cargo tanks, external surface areas, and specialty components & areas with the required number or coats and coverage.

·         Coat barge internal cargo tanks & voids with the required number or coats and coverage.

·         Operate equipment, vacuum pumps.

 

Maintenance Mechanics

  • Perform pump service/maintenance activities, electrical work, facility maintenance, preventative maintenance, mechanical work, including taking accurate measurements, completing documentation, and referencing proper standards/documentation to ensure quality craftsmanship.
  • Utilize hand tools effectively; wrenches, sockets, screwdrivers, impact tools, hammers, mallets, grinders, reading meters.
  • Operate, maintain, and/or repair powered industrial trucks, aerial platforms, and bridge cranes.
  • Complete electrical work and fabrication as needed throughout the yard.
  • Responsible for maintaining tools, equipment, stock levels (parts and lubes) for the department. Small hand tools must be furnished by Mechanic, specialized tools needed will be furnished by SWSLP, or as directed by Maintenance Manager.
  • Preventative maintenance duties to perform hands on maintenance, troubleshooting, and complete repair work on pumps, vacuum pumps, submergible pumps, and direct acting steam pumps.
  • Ability to dialogue with yard and vendor personnel to perform maintenance or repair needs on mechanical equipment.
  • Assess damages and diagnose possible problems with the equipment such as pumps, compressors, HVAC, welding machines, heavy equipment, generators, motors, hand tools, boilers, and cranes.
  • Required to perform quality assurance inspection of parts according to standard operating procedure requirements.
  • Conduct testing, inspecting, repairing, and re-assembling basic equipment, components, and systems including but not limited to overhead bridge cranes, hoists, gear boxes, forklifts, company vehicles, pneumatic and mechanical systems, power transmission components, combustion engines, boiler systems, and electrical and hydraulic systems.
  • Maintain close communication with Supervisor on status of daily activities and issues which may arise.
  • Assist with planning and preparing daily schedule to facilitate efficient completion of duties.
  • Adhere to and ensure that all work activities are performed in accordance with established safety and environmental standards, regulations, and policies.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

 

Safety Technicians

Provide support to the Safety Manager to ensure safety policies and company rules are enforced, and to ensure:

  • Employees perform their duties with minimum risk of personal injury and damage to company and customer equipment.
  • Employees understand & comply with all federal, state, local and company safety rules & regulations.
  • Employees knowledgeable and trained in emergency situations (i.e., evacuations, Safety procedures).
  • Employee must complete Competent Person training within 90 days of hire.

 

Laborers/Helpers

The labor/helper performs tasks involving physical labor at work sites. The position may operate a variety of hand and power tools and may clean and prepare sites, clean up rubble and debris, and remove waste materials.

·         Assist in the maintenance of the yard boats.

·         Assist the Boat Captain in all shifting of barges.

·         Maintain all boat apparatus: winches, cables, ropes.

·         Loads and unloads materials from vessels/barges and docks/trucks.

·         Cleans the deck of the vessel regularly and maintains equipment exposed to outside elements.

·         Keeps deck clear of obstructions that may cause slips, falls, or otherwise be a safety hazard.

·         Maintains the overall appearance of the vessel, ensuring that proper storage and housekeeping are observed.

·         Understand and follow all company regulations and safety rules. Oh

·         Tie up the barges to the fixed structure onshore or other barges.

·         Use appropriate ropes and procedures for tying.

·         Contact the Boat Captain for situations requiring his involvement.

·         Follow the instructions of the Boat Captain.

·         Perform the duties as assigned.

·         Other duties are assigned.
