Towing 23,000 tons nearly 400 miles is quite a task. Anadarko's Heidelberg spar has been towed, upended and moored on location in almost 5,300' of water 390 miles east of Corpus Christi, Texas.
Anadarko is among the largest independent leaseholders and producers in the deepwater Gulf of Mexico, with more than 2 million net acres and seven operated floating facilities. The Heidelberg spar is modeled after Anadarko's newest and largest spar facility, Lucius, which began production in January.
