Natural gas prices finished today above $4 at $4.003/mmBtu. It's the first time since December 2018 that natural gas prices have closed above $4.
Natural gas prices were 1.1% higher today. The market began the session lower and extended those losses mid-morning when the U.S. Energy Information Administration reported a "larger-than-normal storage injection last week that highlighted moderately weak, mid-summer demand," The Wall Street Journal said today.
But, the Journal said, "investors shrugged off that bearish sentiment and buying resumed late in the session as investors focused on what could be a hotter-than-normal August in some key consumption regions such as North Texas and part of the South. Prices are now nearly 60% higher year-to-date."
