Magnolia Marine Transport Co. (MMT), Vicksburg, Miss., has expanded its inland waterways fleet with the addition of three towboats and nine barges, increasing its capacity to transport petroleum products on U.S. rivers.

Founded in 1968, Magnolia Marine operates one of the largest fleets of heated barges in the U.S., primarily serving the transportation needs of liquid petroleum products. Company officials said the latest fleet additions are intended to support growing customer demand and strengthen service across the inland waterways system.

“The addition of assets to our fleet speaks to our commitment and strengthens our ability to serve our customers at the highest level,” Jacob Dykes, president of MMT, said in a statement.

According to the company, the expanded fleet will also support job growth as crews are hired to operate the new towboats and associated barges. Magnolia Marine noted that it offers career advancement opportunities within its operations, with positions ranging from entry-level deckhands to licensed captains.

“By investing in the ongoing growth of our fleet, we can continue to provide the level of dependable and flexible service our customers expect from us,” said Dykes. “Every new vessel and crew member plays a part in that.”

Magnolia Marine is part of the Ergon family of companies, a Mississippi-based group involved in petroleum logistics, refining, and related services.
