Magnet Defense LLC, Miami, said Friday that it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Advanced Technology Group (ATG) in a deal aimed at enhancing its maritime defense offering.
The acquisition remains subject to customary closing conditions. A purchase price was not disclosed.
Magnet Defense is a developer of fully autonomous national security maritime platforms for fleet operations and missile defense missions. The company said in a press release that the acquisition will enhance its autonomy offerings by integrating ATG’s open-architecture artificial intelligence capabilities into its DefendAI battlespace management suite, which supports its AI-enabled autonomous maritime defense systems.
ATG provides development and integration of command-and-control and artificial intelligence capabilities for air, space, maritime, and surface platforms. The company works across multiple operational domains and supports U.S. Department of War programs.
Magnet Defense said ATG’s technology and personnel will accelerate the integration of its platforms into theater-level and operational battlespace management systems. The company plans to begin aligning ATG’s Autonomy Exchange for Interoperable Modularity (AXIOM) autonomy stack with Magnet Defense’s existing autonomy capabilities.
According to the announcement, AXIOM’s mission modules are designed to streamline integration with command-and-control systems used by military services, operations centers, and combatant commands across sea, land, air, space, and cyber domains.
The move follows Magnet Defense's recent acquisition of Metal Shark, Jeanerette, La., which adds established shipbuilding capacity to its autonomous maritime platform business.
