The Maritime Administration has released its LNG life cycle emissions study. The study found that use of natural gas fuels substantially reduced air pollutant emissions compared to conventional marine fuels (low-sulfur and high-sulfur petroleum). The Marad study also said that continued improvements to minimize emissions of methane during vessel-engine operations will contribute to lower greenhouse gas emissions from marine applications.
