The U.S. Navy officially accepted delivery of the third in a series of 10 new yard, repair, berthing, and messing (YRBM) barges.

Built by Conrad Shipyard in Amelia, La., YRBM 59 was delivered on Aug. 31 following a Navy inspection.

The 151’4”x49’4” ABS A1 accommodation barge provides pierside living quarters for service men and women whose vessels are in port for repairs and maintenance. Each barge provides berthing for 199 personnel, messing for 300, and includes spaces for medical offices, classrooms, workspaces, laundry rooms, storerooms, and lounge areas.

YRBM 59 will head to its homeport in San Diego to receive fleet-specific installations to further enhance its support capabilities, according to the Navy.

The first barge in the series, YRBM 57, was delivered in October 2024 and is now stationed in Japan. The second vessel, YRBM 58, was delivered earlier this year and is stationed in Guam.
