Local media are reporting that a man suffered severe leg injuries after falling off a barge in Port Canaveral, Fla. on Tuesday evening.
The incident happened at approximately 10 p.m. Central Florida's News 13 reported that the man was a worker on the 250'x68'x15' mechanical dredge Paula Lee, owned by California-based Dutra.
News 13 reported that a Brevard County spokesperson said the man struck a propeller and required "bi-lateral double amputation below the knee." The man was airlifted to Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne, Fla. and his current condition was unknown Wednesday morning.

"This man had fallen into the water," Petty Officer First Class Steve Raymond of the U.S. Coast Guard told Florida Today. "There were some boats in the area and we're trying to determine what happened along with all of the questions of who, what, when and why."
According to Dutra's website, the company is currently under contract to the Canaveral Port Authority to widen and deepen the main channel at Port Canaveral, Florida. The work began in 2014 and is scheduled to wrap up by the end of the year.
