On Tuesday, Vessel Traffic Service (VTS) Lower Mississippi River was scheduled to establish a series of VTS measures for all waters of the Lower Mississippi River from Mile Marker (MM) 9.0 to MM 10.3 Above Head of Passes (AHP).

The measures were necessary to protect persons and vessels from the potential safety hazards associated with the installation of a submerged dredge pipeline across the Mississippi River in the vicinity of Spanish Pass Mississippi River Navigation Channel Crossing and were scheduled to be in effect from 6 a.m. until Midnight. (All vessels were restricted from transiting the area).
