The Coast Guard Foundation, a non-profit organization committed to strengthening the Coast Guard community and service by supporting members and families, recently announced that it has kicked off its 2021 scholarship season.
Accepting applications through March 15, children of Coast Guard members may apply for annual scholarships ranging from $1,000 to $5,000 to fund undergraduate education. Scholarships are available to children of Coast Guard members who are active duty, reserve and retired.
All Coast Guard Foundation Scholarship applicants must use the online application hosted by the Coast Guard Foundation. All interested college-aged children of Coast Guard members should check eligibility guidelines online.
Over the last five years, the Coast Guard Foundation has awarded an average of well over $400,000 in scholarships each year. In the 30 years of the program, the Coast Guard Foundation has paid out $6 million to more than 1,250 college-aged young adults.
“The brave men and women of the Coast Guard community in the past year, as every year, have demonstrated a commitment and resolve in serving their community that few can duplicate,” Susan Ludwig, president, Coast Guard Foundation, said in a statement announcing the scholarships. “The sacrifices these brave individuals and their families make for our way of life cannot be measured. We are proud to continue our support of them and their families through our scholarship program and look forward to seeing what exceptional children will be applying this year.”
