The Bridgeport and Port Jefferson Steamboat Co. has promoted three senior leaders as part of a management restructuring, company president Brian Buckley McAllister announced.
Frederick Hall has been promoted from vice president and general manager to chief operating officer. Hall has worked with the ferry operator for 50 years and most recently oversaw the construction and delivery of the new ferry Long Island as well as two new office buildings in Port Jefferson, N.Y.
Capt. James McGuire has been named vice president and general manager. McGuire has 31 years of service with the company and McAllister Towing, beginning as a dockhand and advancing through the deck ranks before earning his master's license in 1999. A graduate of the State University of New York Maritime College, he holds degrees in meteorology and oceanography and transportation. He also serves on the Passenger Vessel Association's Safety and Security Committee.
Capt. Bruce Topalian has been promoted to port captain after 38 years with the company. Holding licenses as both a master of self-propelled vessels and master of towing vessels, Topalian will oversee the company's ferry captains and serve as the primary liaison with the U.S. Coast Guard on vessel safety and inspection matters.
Founded in 1883, the Bridgeport and Port Jefferson Steamboat Co. operates year-round ferry service between Bridgeport, Conn., and Port Jefferson, N.Y., transporting about 500,000 vehicles annually.
