R.M. Young’s ResponseONE-Pro weather transmitter can be serviced where it’s installed, reducing the downtime, shipping delays, and costs of returning an entire all-in-one station for service.
On a working vessel or at a busy port, weather data drives decisions that carry real cost: when to get underway, when to hold a crane lift, and when to bring a crew back in. When a weather sensor drifts out of calibration or needs service, the usual fix can create another problem. Many all-in-one weather stations have to be pulled from service, packed, and shipped back to the manufacturer for repair or recalibration. That means downtime, added shipping costs, and gaps in the data record.
R.M. Young Company designed the ResponseONE-Pro Weather Transmitter around a different idea: keep the instrument on the mast and bring the service to it.
Service It Where It’s Installed
The ResponseONE-Pro measures four core meteorological variables: wind speed and direction, air temperature, relative humidity, and barometric pressure. What sets it apart is a service access port built into the housing. Through that port, a technician can replace the protective filter and the internal sensor module, which houses the temperature, humidity, and pressure sensors, while the instrument stays installed.
A pre-calibrated replacement sensor restores those measurements to factory standards on site.
The idea is simple: servicing it is more like changing a lightbulb than sending an entire weather station out for repair. When the sensor reaches the end of its service life, operators can replace it with a new pre-calibrated sensor and keep the station in place instead of shipping the unit back and forth for service.
That matters most where data integrity is key, and downtime means missing weeks or months of data collection. And when removing the instrument comes at a high cost. Taking a weather station off a mast can involve technician time, vessel access, scheduling, packaging, shipping, waiting on service, and reinstallation. On offshore and remote sites, those logistics can cost more than the service itself. With the ResponseONE-Pro, the instrument stays where it is.

Proven Where Conditions Are Hardest
The ResponseONE-Pro was engineered for marine data buoy applications, where instruments face salt spray, constant motion, severe weather, and long stretches between service visits.
Before its commercial release, it spent three years deployed on ocean buoys, delivering accurate and reliable data in those conditions.
That background reflects a longer history. R.M. Young has built weather instruments since 1964, and several of its wind sensors were originally developed for ocean data buoy applications. The ResponseONE-Pro brings that experience into a compact all-in-one format with corrosion-resistant construction and removable bird spikes to help discourage perching.
Built to Connect to What’s Already Onboard
The ResponseONE-Pro offers selectable RS-232, RS-485/422, and SDI-12 interfaces, with NMEA, SDI-12, and ASCII output formats. That supports direct connection to marine NMEA systems, data loggers, YOUNG displays, and other compatible serial devices.
Output can run continuously or be polled on demand. Typical current draw is just 7 mA at 12 VDC, helping keep power requirements manageable on vessels, buoys, and solar-powered shore stations. A Windows setup program allows configuration before the instrument is installed.
Configured for Fixed or Moving Platforms
The ResponseONE-Pro is available with or without an internal electronic compass.
For fixed installations such as piers, harbor entrances, and terminal buildings, the instrument can be aligned to the north during installation. On vessels and other platforms that move or change heading, manual alignment is not practical, so the compass option handles that.
Both versions also include terminals for an optional tipping bucket rain gauge, allowing shore-based stations to add precipitation measurement through the same instrument.
Part of a Complete Marine Weather Lineup
The ResponseONE-Pro is one part of a broader line of R.M. Young instruments built for marine and coastal monitoring.
The lineup includes marine versions of the Wind Monitor series, ultrasonic anemometers, and wind displays for the wheelhouse or operations room. Together, they support research vessels, ports and harbors, offshore platforms, buoys, and coastal monitoring networks—anywhere reliable weather data and practical long-term maintenance matter equally.
