On Jan. 27, 2014, Cummins Mid-South, Kenner, La., presented to Brian D’Isernia and Eastern Shipbuilding Group an exact vessel replica constructed by Skinner Models, Inc. of the Bravante V (Hull 155) the first of five diesel-electric Offshore Platform Supply Vessels under contract.
“This model presentation is to allow us to express our appreciation to Eastern Shipbuilding for their partnership in securing this valued business. This is a first for a United States Shipyard to construct Platform Supply Vessels supporting the Brazilian offshore oil and gas drilling and production industry,” the company said.
These vessels feature four Cummins QSK-60DM 16-cylinder turbo-charged IMO Tier 2 diesel generator engines each rated at 1825 kW at 1,800 rpm. Cummins Mid-South also furnished the four Marathon Model 744 690VAC main generators. Also a Cummins KTA19 DM1, 425 KW is providing for emergency power.
Cummins Mid-South has been supporting Eastern’s proven “Tiger Shark Class” Series since the very beginning in 2008. Cummins Mid-South now has diesel-electric generator packages on 10 of the Eastern Vessels of this class.
The Bravante V was delivered to the Bravante Group on Nov. 29, 2013. The remaining four vessels are under construction at Eastern with deliveries throughout 2014.
