The Woods Hole, a new passenger ferry built for the Steamship Authority of Woods Hole, Mass., was christened May 20 at Conrad Aluminum in Morgan City, La.
The 235’x64’x10’5” ferry can carry 384 passengers and 55 automobiles or 10 18-wheelers. The Woods Hole will run its 45-minute route to and from Martha’s Vineyard and the community of Woods Hole. The Steamship Authority ferry schedule lists 14 trips daily.
According to a press release, the vessel is appointed with “oversized leather reclining seats, a snack area, conference tables and Wi-Fi stations, and is equipped with state-of-the-art radar, communications and navigation systems."
“She’s a beauty,” said Conrad project manager Thomas Rachal. “This vessel is a perfect example of the ships built by Conrad Shipyard. Quality in every detail.”
