Cooper Consolidated, LLC has added two 4000C series equilibrium cranes to its bulk stevedoring fleet, making them the largest E-cranes in North America, the company said in a statement. Cooper Consolidated noted the new cranes, Pelican and Creole King, will enhance the company's cargo-handling capabilities along the Mississippi River.

"Cooper Consolidated is constantly aiming to provide our customers with the highest quality of service and the most efficient cargo handling," said Chris Blanchard, executive director of Cooper Consolidated. "The addition of North America’s largest E-Cranes to our fleet helps us continue to meet our high standards and exceed our customers’ expectations."

Designed for both bulk and breakbulk cargo, the 4000C Series E-Cranes feature technology aimed at reducing maintenance needs, extending component life, and improving energy efficiency, the company said in a statement. Each crane is mounted on a 200'x72'x12' barge, built in 2024 at Corn Island Shipyard, Grandview, Ind.

"The decision to bring the largest E-Cranes to the Mississippi River was a collaborative effort between the E-Crane and Cooper Consolidated teams and continues our tradition of adding unique assets to our operations that offer value for our customers," said Billy Fitzpatrick, managing director of sales and stevedoring at Cooper Consolidated.

The Pelican was erected and commissioned in December 2024, while the Creole King is scheduled to begin operations in May 2025.
