Canal Barge Co., New Orleans, has taken delivery of the deck barge Triton built by Conrad Shipyard, Morgan City, La., to transport oversized cargo and heavy equipment for offshore projects.
The barge measures 400'×105', with a hull depth of 25' and a uniform deck strength of 4,200 lbs. per sq. ft. Its construction incorporates Conrad’s proprietary ring design for structural integrity.
The addition expands Canal Barge’s deck barge fleet and its capacity to handle large cargo movements in offshore markets. The company said the vessel will support transportation projects backed by its project teams and mariners.
“Purpose-built to support offshore projects and oversized cargo movements, this new 400-foot deck barge enhances our ability to provide tailored transportation solutions,” Canal Barge said in its announcement.
The company recognized the barge’s sponsor, Amy Tennant Gasvoda, and the Rev. Grace Pardun, supervisory chaplain with the Seamen’s Church Institute, for their roles in commemorating the delivery.
In June 2025, Baltimore-based investment firm Redwood Holdings announced an agreement to acquire Canal Barge Co. Inc.
