Belle Chasse, La.-based C&C Marine and Repair has delivered the Capt. Pete Ciaramitaro, a 2,600-hp inland towboat, to Southern Devall, Sulphur, La. The Capt. Pete Ciaramitaro is the first in a series of six inland towboats C&C Marine is building on spec.
According to C&C Marine, the contract for the vessel was signed on July 20, with delivery following just over two months later. Because C&C Marine was building the boat on spec, the timeline for Southern Devall from contract to delivery was dramatically accelerated. Even so, Southern Devall was able to make some design adjustments to fit its needs, according to the announcment from C&C Marine.
"The Capt. Pete Ciaramitaro was available when we needed to add horsepower to our fleet, and its size and 2,600 horsepower are well suited to our operations," said Brandon Devall, vice president of engineering for Southern Devall. "The vessel gives us the versatility to support both our river and coastal operations."
The Capt. Pete Ciaramitaro measures 87'x33'8"x11'3" and features a pair of Mitsubishi S12R EPA Tier 4 main engines. Those engines drive propellers through Reintjes WAF 665 reduction gears from Karl Senner LLC. Laborde Products supplied the main engines and generator sets.
The towboat has eight berths, along with a joiner system from Kern Martin. GMENI Marine Electronics and Supply provided the navigation and communications package, which includes Furuno radars, a transducer, satellite compass, AIS, bridge alarm system and loudhailer, a Standard Horizon VHF radio, a Radio Zeeland swingmeter, Ritchie magnetic compass, and a Young weather sensor. The wheelhouse is equipped with two Carlisle & Finch 1,000-watt searchlights, and the deck carries a pair of Wintech 40-ton winches.

The five remaining vessels in the series are all available for purchase. According to the shipyard, subsequent deliveries will begin in November and continue every other month.
