Boksa Marine Design, Tampa, Fla., has added shoreside electrical engineering to its services, extending the firm’s marine electrical work beyond vessels to ferry terminals, shipyards, ports, cargo facilities, docks, and marinas.
The new practice covers shore-power systems, utility load evaluations, electrical distribution, charging infrastructure, and flood-resilient electrical design. Boksa said the service is intended to connect vessel-side electrical requirements with shoreside infrastructure planning.
“As naval architects and vessel engineers, we intimately understand the power demands of modern fleets,” said Jeff Kuenning, president of Boksa Marine Design. “By bringing that same technical rigor to shore-based power distribution, we ensure every dock and terminal upgrade is built for next-generation operations. We eliminate the guesswork by engineering both sides of the water’s edge.”
For ferry operators, Boksa said the work can include load evaluations and electrical layouts for high-capacity charging systems used by hybrid and electric vessels. The firm is also offering electrical distribution upgrades for ports and shipyards, including projects involving increased shore-power demand and flood- or storm-resilient infrastructure.
At industrial and cargo terminals, the work can include upgrades for heavy equipment and floating assets, along with conversion of diesel-powered equipment to electric systems.
For marinas and docks, Boksa said the service can include electrical service upgrades and integration of systems such as solar power to support electric boats and personal watercraft.
The shoreside work builds on Boksa’s existing naval architecture, marine engineering, production engineering, and vessel electrical capabilities. The company said its prior work with electrical installers and systems integrators helped lead to the addition of the new service.

Founded in 2003, Boksa works across the commercial, government, and recreational marine sectors. Its services include vessel design, structural and systems engineering, regulatory compliance, production engineering, and marine electrical work.
The company recently opened a second office in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
