San Francisco Bay Ferry plans to suspend service to South San Francisco from Nov. 1 through Nov. 30 while crews dredge the waterway near the Oyster Point terminal. The agency expects the terminal to reopen and service to resume on its current schedule Dec. 1.
The project, conducted with the San Mateo County Harbor District, is intended to maintain water depths for ferries and other vessels using the area. The ferry agency said dredging is typically needed every five to seven years, based on waterway depth surveys.
During the closure, riders traveling from the East Bay to South San Francisco can use Caltrain, BART, Commute.org shuttles or Genentech’s regional shuttles to reach local destinations.
Passengers who park bicycles or scooters at the terminal must remove them by the end of service Oct. 30. Equipment left after that date will be removed and must be reclaimed in the East Bay, the agency said.
