AUTOMATION TECHNICIAN - SENIOR ELECTRICAL DESIGN ENGINEER - MARINE ELECTRICAL SERVICE TECHNICIAN

SENIOR ELECTRICAL DESIGNER
Responsible for leading the design, development, and implementation of complex electrical systems for marine vessels and related facilities. This role manages engineering projects from concept through commissioning, provides technical leadership, and ensures that designs meet customer requirements, performance expectations, and applicable marine standards.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
· Lead the engineering and design of complex marine electrical systems for new construction, refit, and service projects.
· Design AC and DC power distribution systems, switchboards, generator controls, power management systems, motor controls, and integrated automation systems.
· Develop and review one-line diagrams, electrical schematics, panel layouts, cable schedules, wiring diagrams, and installation drawings.
· Perform load analysis, voltage-drop calculations, fault-current analysis, breaker coordination, and equipment sizing.
· Design and support Power Management Systems using DEIF, COMAP, Gensys, and related marine control platforms.
· Lead technical design reviews and collaborate with project managers, production teams, shipyards, vendors, and customers.
· Support installation, commissioning, sea trials, troubleshooting, system upgrades, and corrective engineering activities.
· Analyze system faults, identify root causes, and develop reliable technical solutions and design improvements.
· Maintain accurate engineering documentation, calculations, revisions, technical findings, and project records.
· Mentor junior engineering personnel and communicate professionally with customers, captains, vessel crews, and technical teams.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS · Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field. · Minimum 5 years of electrical design engineering experience in marine, yacht, shipbuilding, power systems, or industrial automation. · Strong knowledge of AC/DC power distribution, generator controls, switchboards, and integrated marine electrical systems. · Experience producing and reviewing electrical schematics, one-line diagrams, panel layouts, cable schedules, and technical documentation. · Proficiency with AutoCAD and the ability to interpret complex technical drawings and system documentation. · Strong troubleshooting, analytical, project leadership, and customer communication skills. · Ability to independently manage multiple engineering priorities and support field commissioning activities. | PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS · Marine or mega-yacht electrical design experience strongly preferred. · Experience with DEIF, COMAP, Gensys, Auto-Maskin, Northern Lights, or similar power management and generator-control platforms. · Experience with EPLAN, PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, distributed I/O, and marine automation systems. · Knowledge of ABYC, NEC, IEC, USCG, ABS, DNV, and Lloyd's Register requirements. · Experience supporting commissioning, sea trials, retrofits, upgrades, and root-cause investigations. · Professional Engineer license or advanced marine engineering credentials are advantageous. · Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and related engineering systems. |
COMPENSATION
$38 - $42 per hour DOE + overtime opportunities available.

The Senior Electrical Design Engineer is expected to independently lead assigned engineering projects, deliver accurate and complete design packages, support successful commissioning and sea trials, resolve complex technical issues, collaborate effectively with customers and project teams, and strengthen TESS's reputation for engineering excellence and reliable marine solutions.

AUTOMATION TECHNICIAN
Responsible for diagnosing, troubleshooting, repairing, and optimizing complex automation and control systems aboard marine vessels and related facilities. This hands-on role helps ensure operational reliability, resolves technical issues, and supports high-performance integrated electrical and automation systems.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
· Diagnose and troubleshoot complex automation and control system failures aboard vessels and in shipyard environments.
· Perform advanced diagnostics on PLCs, distributed I/O systems, HMIs, control panels, and integrated vessel systems.
· Analyze system faults, identify root causes, and implement effective corrective actions.
· Repair, modify, and optimize automation and electrical control systems in accordance with company standards.
· Support automation upgrades, retrofits, testing, commissioning, and system improvement projects.
· Collaborate with engineering teams and operational personnel to improve system functionality and reliability.
· Read schematics, manuals, technical documentation, and system information to support troubleshooting and repairs.
· Maintain accurate service records, findings, repairs, system changes, and recommendations.
· Communicate professionally with customers, captains, vessel crews, management, and technical teams.
· Support operational needs by completing assigned projects safely, efficiently, and professionally.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS · Minimum 5 years of automation, controls, or electrical systems experience. · Strong troubleshooting, diagnostic, fault isolation, and root cause analysis skills. · Experience with PLC-based automation systems and integrated controls. · Ability to read electrical schematics, technical drawings, manuals, and system documentation. · Strong electrical and controls knowledge with attention to detail. · Excellent communication and customer service skills. · Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record. · Ability to work independently and as part of a technical service team. | PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS · Marine automation experience preferred. · Experience with Codesys or similar PLC platforms. · Experience with yacht, marine, industrial, or integrated control systems. · Experience commissioning and troubleshooting advanced control systems. · Familiarity with networked control systems and communication protocols. · Experience supporting system upgrades, retrofits, and performance improvements. · Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and related systems. |
COMPENSATION

MARINE ELECTRICAL SERVICE TECHNICIAN
Responsible for installing, maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting electrical systems on marine vessels and related equipment. This hands-on role helps ensure that electrical systems operate safely, reliably, and in compliance with marine industry standards while delivering professional service to customers.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
· Install, maintain, repair, and troubleshoot marine electrical systems aboard vessels and in shipyard environments.
· Diagnose electrical issues using schematics, manuals, testing equipment, and hands-on troubleshooting methods.
· Test and verify proper operation of low-voltage and high-voltage electrical systems.
· Install wiring, electrical components, lighting, power distribution equipment, motors, generators, and controls.
· Inspect and maintain bonding and grounding systems to protect equipment, vessels, and personnel.
· Secure work areas and follow all safety procedures to prevent electrical hazards and support safe field operations.
· Protect electrical systems from environmental exposure, corrosion, and potential damage.
· Maintain accurate service records, job documentation, and reports of work performed.
· Communicate professionally with service teams, management, customers, captains, and vessel personnel.
· Support operational needs by completing assigned tasks efficiently and assisting with other job-related duties as required.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS · Minimum 3 years of relevant marine electrical experience. · Strong knowledge of AC/DC electrical systems and marine electrical equipment. · Ability to read electrical schematics, drawings, manuals, and technical documentation. · Strong troubleshooting, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills. · Excellent communication and customer service skills. · Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record. · Ability to work independently and as part of a service team. | PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS · ABYC certification preferred. · Experience working on yachts, commercial vessels, shipyards, or marine refit projects. · Experience with generators, motors, power distribution, controllers, and propulsion systems. · Marine automation or controls experience. · Familiarity with marine safety standards and field service environments. · Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and related systems. |
COMPENSATION
$33 - $35 per hour DOE + overtime opportunities available.
