Adjunct Marine Transportation Instructor
Instruct college-level Marine Transportation courses. Preferred specializations include navigation, ship-handling and shipboard safety, seamanship, and watchstanding. Potential course taught may include Integrated Navigation, Advanced Shiphandling, Coastal Navigation and Electronic Navigation. Massachusetts Maritime Academy follows a "Learn-Do-Learn” model, where our hands-on simulation labs and classroom experiences enable our students to "apply" textbook knowledge in the field.

Qualifications and Requirements
Hold a Bachelor's Degree in Marine Transportation or related field;
Hold a Third Mate license with current Standard of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping (STCW) qualifications.
Have at least three years of professional maritime experience
Possess an understanding of teaching in the university setting
Exhibit excellent oral and written communications skills
Understand the unique mission of the university as a maritime academy
Preferred Qualifications
Holder a master’s degree in Marine Transportation or related field.
Have at least three years of maritime experience or teaching experience at an accredited institution of higher learning
Salary
Pay is based on the number of credits taught at a rate of $2,343.75/credit. The semester credit load is variable, typically between 3 and 11 credits, depending on departmental needs and candidate's expertise.
