The Port of New Orleans has appointed Kristi App as its new chief commercial officer, the port announced on Dec. 2. App will lead commercial operations across Port NOLA’s cargo, cruise, and industrial real estate portfolios.
App brings more than 20 years of experience in international trade, transportation, and global logistics, having previously served as chief operating officer at J.W. Allen & Co. Inc., a freight forwarding, customs brokerage, and logistics firm. She also held roles including vice president of business development and vice president of exports.
As CCO, App will direct Port NOLA’s commercial strategy with an emphasis on new revenue generation, market expansion, and strategic growth in cargo, cruise, and real estate. The port said her appointment reflects its focus on innovation, collaboration, and economic development across the Gulf region.
“Kristi App’s extensive background in logistics, international trade, and commercial strategy make her an exceptional addition to our executive team,” said Beth Branch, president and CEO of the Port of New Orleans and CEO of the New Orleans Public Belt Railroad. “Her vision and leadership will be key to advancing our growth initiatives, including the Louisiana International Terminal, and driving sustainable cargo development that benefits our region and our partners across the supply chain.”
App is a Licensed U.S. Customs Broker and Certified Customs Specialist. She received the 2024 C. Alvin Bertel Award for contributions to the Louisiana port community. Her industry involvement includes service as vice president of the National Customs Brokers & Forwarders Association of America Inc., and she is currently a commissioner on the Louisiana Board of International Commerce. She holds a bachelor’s degree in biology from the University of Holy Cross.
