Harley Marine Services has purchased the Azimuthing Stern Drive (ASD) training vessel, BRAtt, from Robert Allen Ltd. Built as a training tool for the maritime industry, the 25.6'x11.8' BRAtt is scaled to proportionally represent a full size, modern ASD tug. The 450hp BRAtt will be used extensively in the tractor tug training program for crewmembers.

The compact BRAtt will allow crewmembers to become familiar with maneuverability and handling capabilities of a tractor tug and practice their operational skills in confined spaces prior to taking con of a full-sized vessel, said Harley Marine.

“This vessel will greatly enhance our ability to train qualified and quality operators for our fleet,” said Capt. Scott Manley, director of marine operations for Harley Marine Services.

The BRAtt is stationed in Seattle, Wash., and is just one element of the comprehensive training program at Harley Marine Services, said the company.
