Norway-based technology company Norbit has signed an agreement to acquire Water Linked, expanding its underwater technology offerings for subsea, offshore, and defense applications.

The acquisition gives Norbit full ownership of Water Linked, a developer of underwater navigation and imaging technologies serving global maritime, defense, and offshore energy markets. Financial terms value Water Linked at $33.7 million on a cash- and debt-free basis. The transaction will be financed through a new term loan and is expected to close around June 30, Norbit announced in a press release.

Founded in 2013, Water Linked develops technologies used to support navigation, perception, and autonomy in underwater and surface operations, particularly in environments where GPS is unavailable. Its product lineup includes Doppler velocity logs, 3D imaging sonars, underwater modems, and acoustic positioning systems.

The systems are used aboard remotely operated vehicles, autonomous underwater vehicles, and uncrewed surface vessels for applications including subsea inspection, offshore energy operations, marine research, defense missions, and underwater infrastructure development.

The acquisition broadens Norbit’s oceans business segment, which supplies sonar and acoustic technology for maritime and subsea applications. By adding Water Linked’s navigation and positioning systems, Norbit aims to strengthen its offering for underwater vehicle operators and OEM customers, the company said.

Water Linked has reported strong growth in recent years and is expected to generate approximately $10.2 million in revenue in 2026, with an EBITDA margin between 25% and 30%, excluding potential synergies tied to the acquisition.

Water Linked will continue operating under its existing brand as Water Linked, a Norbit company. Existing customers are expected to see continuity in products, support, and customer relationships, while gaining access to Norbit’s broader product portfolio and global sales network.
