Gulf Coast dredging contractor Matthews Brothers Dredging LLC, Pass Christian, Miss., announced changes to its executive leadership team.

Effective July 1, Trey Taylor will elevate to the position of chief executive officer. A long-tenured member of the Matthews Brothers Dredging leadership team, Taylor has experience in all aspects of the company’s sales, operations, safety, and executive leadership.

Taylor succeeds Declan Rushe as CEO. Rushe, an operating partner with the company’s sponsor Carr’s Hill Partners, New Orleans, joined the company in 2023 and will transition to an advisory role with the board of directors.

Matthews Brothers Dredging provides maintenance dredging services throughout the Gulf Coast region. Its specialized fleet includes clamshell dredges; hopper, spud, and booster barges; and several workboats, including a pushboat and two survey boats.

Matthews Brothers was founded in 1999 by Tom Matthews and Shaw Matthews, who remain active members of the company’s board of directors. Shaw Matthews, currently president of the company, will transition to focus exclusively on his board involvement.

“This leadership transition reflects the strength of our team and our shared commitment to Matthews Brothers’ future,” said Trey Taylor. “I am honored to step into this role and build on the outstanding work of Declan, Tom, and Shaw. Together, we will continue to serve our clients, invest in our people, and expand our impact in the industry.”
