Lincoln Electric has introduced the LT-10D, a new submerged arc welding tractor designed for long plate welding applications and jobs where equipment needs to be moved or reconfigured frequently.
The Cleveland-based welding equipment manufacturer said the LT-10D can be broken down without tools into modules weighing 50 lbs. or less, allowing crews to move the system through confined work areas and reassemble it at the weld location.
The tractor can operate either on or off a track and can be configured with three or four wheels, depending on the application. Its mounting system uses a tube-and-clamp arrangement with a dovetail connection for positioning components.
Lincoln Electric said the LT-10D is intended primarily for butt and fillet welds on long plate sections. When paired with the company’s ArcLink-compatible submerged arc power sources, including the Power Wave AC/DC 1000 and Flextec 650X, the system is designed to support high-deposition welding.
The unit also includes a removable control pendant that allows operators to select stored welding parameters, establish operating limits and apply control lockouts from the weld area.
“Customer feedback played a key role in the development of the LT-10D,” said Kristina Yamaguchi, product manager for industrial equipment at Lincoln Electric. “We designed it to be quicker to set up, easier to transport, and flexible enough to handle demanding applications and tight workspaces.”
Submerged arc welding is commonly used for applications requiring long, continuous welds on heavy plate. Lincoln Electric did not identify specific marine or shipbuilding applications for the LT-10D in announcing the product.
