Helix Energy Solutions Group Inc., Houston, on Wednesday announced that it has been awarded a multi-year contract with an undisclosed "major operator" to provide well intervention services in the Gulf of Mexico, renamed by the U.S. government as the Gulf of America.
The contract for production enhancement and well abandonment will commence in 2026 and includes a minimum commitment of vessel utilization, split over three years.
The contract calls for the provision of either the Q5000 or Q4000 DP3 semisubmersible riser-based well intervention vessels, a 10k or 15k intervention riser system, and remotely operated vehicles, as well as project management and engineering services, Helix said, noting its services cover operations from fully integrated production enhancement to fully integrated plug and abandonment well services.
Helix noted that the contract includes equipment and services as part of the Subsea Services Alliance, its strategic partnership with SLB, Houston.
