The Coast Guard will hold a ‘robotic systems expo’ Aug. 26 to demonstrate the role that autonomous and uncrewed craft will play in the service’s Force Design 2028 remake.
The exhibit at Coast Guard headquarters in Washington, D.C., will focus on “the development, acquisition, and deployment of robotic and autonomous systems (RAS)/uncrewed systems (UxS),” according to an announcement. “This technology display and demonstration will provide invited media access to rarely seen technology, underscoring the service's innovation and early transformation through Force Design 2028.”
The show plan was announced Aug. 19 along with a notice the Coast Guard has established RAS Program Executive Office. The Aug. 26 event will feature remarks by Vice Adm. Thomas Allan, the acting vice commandant, representatives from the RAS program and the Coast Guard Research and Development Center.
On display will be surface, air, undersea, and land robotics autonomous systems now being prototyped or already in operational use by the Coast Guard, and a demonstration of the Coast Guard’s first Long Range Unmanned Aircraft System.
