Fuel management system provider Fueltrax, Houston, has named John Donovan chief operating officer as the company looks to expand the use of vessel data across fleet operations.
Donovan has been with Fueltrax since 2018, when he joined the company as director of global operations. He later served in vice president roles and led the expansion of the company’s global infrastructure supporting its fuel management systems.
Before joining Fueltrax, Donovan spent 16 years as a mariner in shoreside maritime operations roles, also serving in the U.S. Navy.
In his new role, Donovan will oversee efforts to integrate the company’s commercial, engineering, manufacturing, deployment and customer support functions. Fueltrax said the effort is intended to improve coordination from initial vessel assessments and system installations through long-term support.
Donovan said the role of fuel management systems has expanded beyond measuring and tracking fuel consumption.
The company is also focusing on the quality of vessel data used for digitization, automation and artificial intelligence applications.
The company develops fuel management and vessel monitoring systems for commercial marine operators.
