Freudenberg Flow Technologies announced it has acquired Balmoral Comtec, effective May 19, adding offshore buoyancy, cable protection, and thermal insulation capabilities to its global portfolio of sealing and connector solutions. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Balmoral Comtec, headquartered in Aberdeen, Scotland, brings more than 45 years of experience serving the offshore oil and gas and wind energy sectors. The company employs approximately 400 people across three U.K. locations.
Balmoral Comtec will become a product segment within Freudenberg Flow Technologies' Connectors and Sealing Solutions (CSS) business unit, though it will continue operating externally under the Balmoral Comtec brand name.
"The acquisition of Balmoral Comtec not only expands our current business in the conventional energy segment," said Jason Kollatschny, CEO of CSS. "Thanks to the diversified product offering it grows our portfolio of products supporting the energy transition."
Kollatschny added that the combined offering positions the company for broader market leadership. "Balmoral Comtec's product portfolio complements our existing solution offering. The acquisition is an important milestone on our path to becoming the leading integrated solution provider for critical sealing systems, buoyancy and cable protection products, services, Engineering & Technology as well as Digitalization & Monitoring solutions to our global customer base."
With the addition of Balmoral Comtec, Freudenberg Flow Technologies said it is now the only integrated provider of connector, sealing, and cable protection solutions serving the offshore energy market — spanning both oil and gas and fixed and floating offshore wind segments.
Balmoral Comtec's senior management team will remain in place, with the exception of Managing Director Bill Main, who is retiring. Chris Lee, currently VP of Freudenberg's Connectors product segment, will work alongside Main during the transition and assume oversight of the Managing Director role. Balmoral Comtec's core product lines and services will continue unchanged.
Freudenberg Flow Technologies operates in approximately 60 countries. Its parent, the Freudenberg Group, is a privately held technology conglomerate headquartered in Weinheim, Germany, with roughly 51,000 employees worldwide and 2025 revenues exceeding €11.7 billion.
