Elomatic has appointed Michael O’Sullivan president of Elomatic Consulting Inc., where he will oversee the engineering and consulting company’s North American marine business.
O’Sullivan joins Elomatic after two years as portfolio director for the Canadian Coast Guard’s Polar Icebreaker project. He previously served as senior director and special adviser for shipbuilding at the Coast Guard, advising its director general of shipbuilding on fleet renewal and shipbuilding strategy.
He has more than 30 years of experience managing and advising marine projects in Canada and internationally. His previous work includes projects involving the Royal Canadian Navy, Royal Canadian Air Force, Canadian Coast Guard and Canada’s Department of National Defence.
O’Sullivan will lead a North American team of more than 30 employees. The company said he will focus on expanding its work in the Canadian and U.S. marine and defense markets, including new construction and vessel retrofit projects.
“The North American region continues to be a strategic focus area for Elomatic, most notably with regards to our role in the development of the Canadian Coast Guard’s Polar Icebreaker project, in which we are a key design and development partner,” said Teemu Tuomisto, Elomatic’s senior vice president of marine.
Elomatic established Elomatic Consulting Inc. in 2023 to support the Canadian Coast Guard’s Polar Icebreaker project. The Polar Class 2 vessel is scheduled for completion in the early 2030s and is expected to become the Coast Guard’s flagship. The company said its North American operation is expanding beyond icebreaker projects.
