Donjon Marine Co., Hillside, N.J., has been awarded a $180 million U.S. Navy indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity (IDIQ) contract to provide salvage-related towing, harbor clearance, ocean engineering and point-to-point towing services along the North and South American east coasts.
According to the Department of Defense, the cost-plus-award-fee and cost-plus-fixed-fee contract was competitively procured through the System for Award Management website, with five offers received. The work is expected to be completed by June 2031.
In its announcement, Donjon Marine said the contract carries an estimated ceiling value of up to $215 million. The company said the award was made by the Naval Sea Systems Command's (Navsea) Supervisor of Salvage and Diving (SUPSALV) program and covers emergency salvage, salvage-related towing, harbor clearance, heavy-lift operations, point-to-point towing and ocean engineering support. Donjon said it will maintain the capability to conduct at least two simultaneous operations while meeting Navy emergency response requirements.
The Department of Defense said the contract was competitively procured through the System for Award Management website, with five offers received. Fiscal 2026 Navy operations and maintenance funds totaling $5,000 were obligated at the time of award, with those funds set to expire at the end of the current fiscal year.
Donjon also noted it has held the primary Navsea SUPSALV salvage services contract for the Western Hemisphere since 1980.
"This award is a testament to Donjon's proven expertise and readiness to support critical Navy missions around the world," Donjon Marine CEO John A. Witte said in a statement. "We are proud to continue our partnership with NAVSEA and SUPSALV in delivering the highest level of salvage and marine services wherever and whenever they are needed."
The contract follows a change in ownership announced in September 2025, when investment firm Tallvine Partners, Coral Gables, Fla., acquired Donjon Marine for an undisclosed amount.
Founded in 1964, Donjon provides dredging, salvage, emergency response, heavy lift, towing and environmental remediation services. The company operates a fleet of more than 70 vessels, more than 1,000 linear ft. of berth space and a dredged material processing operation capable of handling 4,500 cu. yds. per day in the New York and New Jersey harbor region. Donjon also operates a Great Lakes shipyard featuring a 1,250-ft. drydock, more than 200,000 sq. ft. of production space on 44 acres. The company employs more than 270 people.
