Colonna's Shipyard Inc., Norfolk, Va., on Thursday announced it has appointed Brian Waterfield as its next chief financial officer. Waterfield assumes the role effective March 30, 2026.

“Brian’s background in financial assurance and his expertise in the government contracting space will be a strong asset as we continue to support our customers and invest in the future,” said Randall Crutchfield, chairman and CEO, Colonna’s Shipyard. “We’re excited to welcome him to the team.”
Waterfield has worked with clients across a range of ownership structures, including private equity-backed companies, employee stock ownership plans, closely held businesses, and family-owned enterprises.
Waterfield holds a master of accounting and a bachelor of business administration in finance from the College of William & Mary and is a member of both the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Virginia Society of Certified Public Accountants.
He is also active in the Hampton Roads, Va., community, serving on the finance committee for the Elizabeth River Trail Foundation and on the board of directors for Junior Achievement of Greater Hampton Roads.
Founded in 1875, Colonna's Shipyard is the oldest continuously operating private shipyard in the United States, providing ship repair, conversion, and fabrication services to commercial and government clients.
