On Sept. 11, 2001, the largest sea evacuation in history took place in Lower Manhattan. Civilians streaming off of the island in the aftermath of the World Trade Center attacks were ferried to safety by all manner of working boats. In the end, nearly 500,000 people were rescued from Manhattan by boat. As Friday marks the anniversary of this national tragedy, we remember the brave marine response by sharing “Boatlift,” a 2011 documentary produced and directed by Eddie Rosenstein of Eyepop Productions, Inc.
