Two new 80' tractor tugs are being built for Harley Marine Services at Diversified Marine in Portland, Ore. The twin sister tugs, designed by Robert Allan, LTD, have approximately 5,200 hp and a sixty-five tons bollard pull. They are expected to be completed in March and June of 2015.
The tugs will be named the Michelle Sloan and the Lela Franco. Michelle Sloan is a longtime family friend of Harley Marine Services chairman and CEO Harley Franco and his wife, Lela. Michelle is currently battling breast cancer and she has been a tremendous community supporter and philanthropist. The other tug, Lela Franco, is named after Harley Franco's wife. Lela has made many contributions to Harley Marine in the areas of culture, core values, office design and commitment to the environment.
These vessels will be the fifth and sixth new built tractor tugs added to the HMS fleet in just under two years, bringing the West Coast ship assist fleet to 13.
