Eastern Shipbuilding Group has signed a contract to build four 134’ ABS-classed inland river, 3,800-hp towboats for a Colombian operator. Each towboat will have a retractable pilothouse. The vessel design and detailed engineering is being provided by CT Marine of Portland, Maine.

The company, IWL River Inc., is an affiliate of Impala Terminals Colombia, which owns and operates a network of terminals that facilitate global trade flows, specializing in warehousing, multimodal logistics and related port services for essential commodities worldwide. The new towboats will service the inland waterways of Latin America.

The four inland retractable towboats feature the following specifications:
