On May 13 on the New Orleans riverfront, New Orleans-based Blessey Marine Services christened the 1,700-hp Erin C. Grenon.
The 76'x35'x11' towboat was built by Raymond & Associates, Bayou LaBatre, Ala. Power is provided by a pair of Cummins K38M engines putting out 850 hp each at 1,800 rpm. The engines connect to Karl Senner-supplied Reintjes WAF474 marine gears with 7.09:1 ratios. The towboat is also outfitted with a pair of Cummins QSB7DM-powered 85-kW generators sets.
