C-Innovation (C-I), Mandeville, La., an affiliate of Edison Chouest Offshore, recently completed a series of light construction and subsea installation campaigns supporting LLOG Exploration and Pinnacle Engineering on the Salamanca field development in the Gulf.
According to C-Innovation, the work marked a key milestone in the Leon-Castile project, with first oil now flowing to the Salamanca hub. The company deployed its multipurpose support vessel (MPSV) Dove, equipped with a 150-ton crane, along with C-Leader offshore supply vessels to execute subsea infrastructure installations over a 100-day operational period.
C-Innovation said the scope of work included the installation of multiple subsea jumpers supporting production from the Leon and Castile fields. The company installed a 16” gas export jumper, a 10” gas export jumper, and a 16” oil export jumper configured in a Z-shape design. In addition, the team completed the installation of two Leon flowline jumpers, two Leon well jumpers, and one Castile well jumper. Beyond these operations, C-I said it also provided support services, including pigging and dewatering operations, precision metrology to verify subsea alignment, and hull inspection services to ensure ongoing integrity of the offshore systems.
C-I noted the most demanding lift consisted of spreader bar, rigging, and jumper components totaling 143,245 lbs. and measuring just over 96’ in overall length.
“This project demonstrates C-I’s ability to execute complex subsea installations with precision, utilizing the Dove vessel’s 150-ton crane to successfully install a substantial 16” oil export jumper,” said Nathan Wolford, project manager at C-Innovation. “The demanding Z-shaped configuration and significant weight requirements showcased not only advanced engineering execution but also the specialized marine handling expertise of our team.”
The subsea work forms part of the Leon-Castile field development that feeds into LLOG’s Salamanca production platform, a repurposed semisubmersible located about 200 miles off the Louisiana coast.
