Alex Gregg-Smith has been named the next president of Bureau Veritas' (BV) marine and offshore division, the group announced on Dec. 2 as it continues changes to its organizational design and operating model.
Gregg-Smith, currently senior vice president, marine and offshore for Asia Pacific, will assume the role on Jan. 1. A dual U.K.-French national, he will be based in Paris and will continue to report to Matthieu de Tugny, who became executive vice president, industrials and commodities in September.
“The maritime industry sits at the intersections of global supply and value chains at a time of significant transition,” Gregg-Smith said. “In my role as president of the marine and offshore business, enabled and supported by the industrials and commodities product line, BV is mobilizing and connecting the experience and know-how of a global group, active in all industrial sectors, to help the industry achieve its goals.”
Matthieu de Tugny said, "Alex has a unique background and the right experience for this role, having spent 20 years with Bureau Veritas across two periods, alongside leadership roles in shipowners and shipyards. His engagement and commitment to the maritime industry, and the role of class within it, are undeniable."
