Mexico's second-largest container port recently took delivery of some important cargo, as five new cranes arrived at APM Terminals Lázaro Cárdenas.

Located on the Pacific coast, in the State of Michoacán, the Port of Lázaro Cárdenas, has seen traffic increase dramatically over the past decade. A deepwater port with facilities for general cargo, dry bulk and liquid bulk as well as containerized cargo, Lázaro Cárdenas is an important emerging hub for Mexican trans-Pacific cargo traffic.

In light of increasing infrastructure demands, the Mexican government has announced plans to double port capacity. In 2012, APM Terminals signed a a 32-year concession for the design, construction and operation of a new deep-water terminal at Lázaro Cárdenas, which began development in November 2014, and it is scheduled to open in early 2016.
