The American Equity Underwriters, Inc., (AEU), Mobile, Ala., a provider of workers' compensation insurance for waterfront employers, announced that Steven Ritchie has joined the company as managing director, effective May 1.
Based in AEU's Seattle office, Ritchie will focus on supporting existing customers and insurance brokers while expanding AEU's presence on the West Coast.
Ritchie brings nearly three decades of experience in marine insurance, with a focus on workers' compensation for marine construction-related industries. He most recently served as director of U.S. longshore and harbor and specialty construction at Key Risk, High Point, N.C.
"Steven's deep understanding of the complexities surrounding USL&H coverage makes him an outstanding addition to our team," said Winchester Thurber, chief commercial officer at AEU. "Having him based in Seattle underscores AEU's ongoing commitment to the West Coast as we expand our presence and enhance the support we provide to maritime employers in the region."
