ABS Wavesight, a maritime Software-as-a-Service company affiliated with the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS), Houston, has appointed Capt. Stephen "Steve" Bomgardner as its new chief customer officer.

Capt. Bomgardner brings over 23 years of maritime leadership experience, including roles in operations, regulatory compliance, and environmental innovation. He most recently served as Vice President of Shipping & Offshore Solutions at Pole Star Global, where he led strategic growth efforts and integrated advanced vessel analytics into existing tracking systems.

“Steve’s extensive expertise and proven leadership in delivering customer-centric solutions will be instrumental as we continue to strengthen our client relationships and drive measurable outcomes,” said Staci Satterwhite, CEO of ABS Wavesight. “His appointment underscores our commitment to ensuring that customers realize the full value of our technology.”

In his new role, Bomgardner will oversee ABS Wavesight’s customer success strategy, with a focus on client engagement, retention, and value realization, the company said.

Before joining Pole Star Global, Bomgardner led global commercial development for real-time emissions monitoring technologies and held senior regulatory positions with the Bahamas Maritime Authority and the Liberian International Ship & Corporate Registry.

His maritime career began with 15 years in offshore drilling operations aboard advanced vessels. He holds a bachelor of science in marine transportation from Texas A&M University and a master of business administration from Georgetown University.
