For 75 years, R.W. Fernstrum & Company has firmly established a position as the leader in engineering and manufacturing world-class heat exchangers for the marine industry. This family owned and operated business has been built upon a tradition of focusing on customer needs to develop new innovations and setting new standards. As marine engines and their cooling requirements have steadily evolved over the years, so have the solutions developed by Fernstrum to better meet the cooling needs of these modern engines. For the new year, we are expanding the GRIDCOOLER® Keel Cooler line with a new series of custom-engineered heat exchangers optimized to meet your needs for the future.

The E Series GRIDCOOLER Keel Cooler introduces a larger tube size in our 90/10 copper/nickel series of tubes. The E size tube offers greater heat transfer surface area and allows for increased coolant flow capacity over previous designs. Increased wall thickness improves durability, and our exclusive enhanced interior tube wall maintains optimal coolant flow through the keel cooler.

The E Series GRIDCOOLER Keel Coolers use our Z Option flange connections as standard. This connection type relocates the connecting and mating points to the hull’s exterior, eliminating hull penetrations. Mating flanges are provided in carbon or stainless steel. Additional flange mounting hardware is also supplied for galvanic isolation. This design is ideal for installations where mounting hardware cannot be easily accessed from the interior of the hull, and may eliminate the need for cofferdams.

As with other products such as the 5000 series Aluminum GRIDCOOLER Keel Cooler and the enhanced wall tube, the E Series GRIDCOOLER Keel Cooler is a Fernstrum exclusive that we are proud to bring to you starting in 2024.
