Just saw the show Disasters at sea featuring the Marine Electric and the loss of 31 men. Very sad but also fascinating on the cause.

My step father was an engineer on the Marine Electric and died onboard ship returning from Haifa, Israel to Norfolk, VA, 1974. I was in S. Vietnam, 1969 – 1970 and spent 3 days onboard the Electric when my stepdad brought ammunition and c-rations to Vietnam, to return stateside with helicopters, shot down in country. RIP.
